1. Update drivers
Press Windows + X and click on Device Manager. Check each device with yellow or red signs and troubleshoot them. Also, if your drive is detected here, right click on it and Automatically update driver software. This should update your drivers and help with hardware issues. If not, please proceed to the next step.
2. Run CHKDSK
There may be problems with your hard drive due to corruption in files or due to bad sectors. CHKDSK fixes some of these errors. Press Windows + X and select Control Panel (Administrator). In the Command prompt, type CHKDSK /f /r. This will scan integrity of files and file structure and also for bad sectors. If any issues, it will repair them.
3. Run System File Checker
Corruption in system files can also lead to hard drive problems. Sfc/scannow command helps resolve this issue. Press Windows + X and select Control Panel (Administrator). In the Command prompt, type sfc/scannow. This should fix corruption in your system files.
4. Run antivirus
Virus or malware could be another reason for problems with hard drives. Run a reliable anti-virus program and check if it resolves your issue.
5. Replace hard drive
If none of these methods work, it could be that your hard drive is failing and needs to be replaced. In such cases, you can recover data using Remo Recover and replace your drive.
